Ice Ice Baby Challenge 2021

"Dear HRC-ers, trainers, players and sponsors. I'm starting an action for our club to inspire our trainers on the one hand, but of course also to support our beautiful club."

With these words, Jeff Snoeck started his post on the Haagse Rugy Club (HRC) website to announce the first Ice Ice Baby Challenge in 2021. The challenge was to stay in the water for 3 minutes every day at 6 am for 4 weeks to raise money for the training material youth needed. In the four weeks that followed, brave interested people, both HRCers and non-HRCers, joined the group and dived into the cold seawater. The conclusion was an ice-cold February day where there was snow on the beach, the wind chill was around -20' degrees and a CODE RED was issued by the government of the Netherlands. The North Sea Vikings raised a total of 9,122 euros, with which a lot of new training material was purchased for the youth.

Met deze woorden startte Jeff Snoeck zijn post op de website van Haagse Rugby Club (HRC) om de eerste Ice Ice Baby Challenge in 2021 aan te kondigen. The challenge was om voor 4 weken lang iedere dag om 6u ’s ochtends 3 minuten in het water blijven om geld in te zamelen voor trainingsmateriaal voor de jeugd. In de vier weken die daarop volgden, sloten dappere geïnteresseerden, zowel HRC-ers als niet-HRC-ers aan bij de groep en doken het koude zeewater in. Met als afsluiting een ijskoude februaridag waarbij er sneeuw op het strand lag, gevoelstemperatuur rond de -20' graden uitkwam en er CODE ROOD afgegeven was bij de Nederlandse overheid. In totaal haalden de North Sea Vikings 9.122 euros op, waarmee veel nieuw training materiaal voor de jeugd aangeschaft is.
